Customs plates are needed to export a vehicle from Germany to other European countries. It can be issued with different durations from 15 days up to 1 year. The vehicle must have a general inspection according to the duration of the customs plates. Tax has to be paid for the whole duration, while tax for 15 days customs plates is based upon tax for 30 days customs plates. Vehicles, which are registered on customs plates are insured against damage to third parties and exclusive of car theft.

 

If you order customs plates for a vehicle with German documents, please supply the following documents:

  • original vehicle documents
  • legible copy of passport
  • authorization
  • invoice, if you are not already indicated as owner on the documents

If your car comes from non-European countries, the original customs clearance has to be presented, too.
